Black Friday Outreach
Thanksgiving night, Thursday, November 24th from 9pm-1am
I am so excited for our 3rd annual Black Friday Outreach. We will meet at the church Thanksgiving night at 9pm and will return by 1am Friday morning. We will spend some time in prayer and preparation when we first arrive and will then head out to Best Buy/ToysRUs and other locations to pass out free coffee and hot chocolate to people will waiting in line for the Black Friday sales. It is a wonderful opportunity to share the love of Christ around our community. All ages and families welcome!

Family Ministries Seminar

This Seminar is for anyone involved in Family Ministries as a worker or teacher: Nursery, Walkers, Toddlers, Preschool/Kindergarten and C4J. All students involved in this ministry need to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Special Ops Retreat
Saturday, October 29th from 10am-5pm
Drop-Off and Pick-Up @ New Life Circle Drive
This will be an entire day filled with leadership initiatives, personal challenges and character development. Please eat breakfast before you come and lunch and dinner will be provided. (No money needed... all expenses were covered in your Special Ops Application fee). Please bring an extra pair of clothes that can get very dirty. You will also need gym type clothes, including gym-type shoes.
There will be waiver that will need to completed and signed for this outing that I will give the students at our October 17th meeting to fill out and bring with them to the retreat.

*** FYI... We had to cancel our "Click-N-Get" Hunt in October due to scheduling issues. We will reschedule it for after the holidays. ***

After attending The Elijah Revolution this weekend, I purchased Lou Engle's booklet "Nazarite DNA" and read it that night before going to bed. It was so good, I already passed it along to one of our students to read who was really being challenged to take the vow of a Nazarite this year. I encourage students to check out this super easy read with a very challenging message.

August Reminder: LEGACY Parent and Student UPDATE Meeting

I would like to invite EVERY JH and HS LEGACY STUDENT AND PARENT to an LEGACY Student Ministries Update Meeting the last Sunday of August at 9am. I am going to give some information on our new IMPACT Team this year, our over-seas mission trip this summer and other various things happening this fall. Please make every effort to attend, as this will be one of the only times we will make our IMPACT applications available.

This is a Pre-Call Youth Rally gather students to get charged up before the school year comes to a full start. The BURN Event is going to make way and prepare the ears, eyes, hearts and minds of this up and coming generation.
Students will need to be dropped off at Oakland Christian Church at 4:30pm
and picked up at 8:00pm (Legacy Youth Leaders will be in attendance with your students)

ELIJAH REVOLUTION Conference

Elijah Revolution Website
This is a Pre-Call Youth Conference designed for the JH and HS students in the Detroit Metro Area. Elijah Revolution, a new ministry working in partnership with The Call, Luke18 Project, and IHOP–KC, is launching teen conferences and high school campus initiatives, calling teenagers to a life of wholehearted devotion to Jesus and radical commitment to God, in the spirit of a Nazirite.

Conference Schedule:

We will need to Pre-Register, so permission slips and $20 is due in the Cafe' by September 18th. We will be meeting at the church on Friday at 4pm and will be returning around 11pm. GENERATION CHANGE Series by Dave Ramsey
Taught on video by personal money-management expert Dave Ramsey, *Generation Change* is an entertaining  and informative Bible study for youth that shows today’s students how money really works, how God views money, and how they can grow into financially responsible young adults. Check out this video for a short introduction.

Every day, our youth are bombarded with a million different voices—everything from billboards to internet ads—telling them who they are and measuring their worth by what they have. The pressure to be accepted in today's "stuff-centered" world drives them, and perhaps even their parents, to throw money away on things that don't matter—all in an attempt to "be somebody." As a result, we're raising a generation that spends money they don't have to buy things they don't need to impress people they don't even like! It's time for a change!

*Generation Change* is taught by Dave Ramsey on DVD. You'll begin the class with the 10-15 minute video, then move to a time of discussion using questions outlined in the student journals. This is followed by activities that illustrate the lesson for the day.

Lesson 1: The Value of You: In this lesson, students will recognize the value they have in God’s eyes. They will understand that God, not stuff, defines them.

Lesson 2: Materialism Mayhem: In this session, Dave uncovers and explains the dangers of credit. He discusses how teens can protect themselves while changing their family tree forever!

Lesson 3: Money Minds: In this lesson, students will gain the tools to make wise purchases, learn how to manage money using a simple envelope system, and understand the importance of saving.

Lesson 4: The Gift of Giving: Dave teaches the biblical truth that giving is a spiritual act of worship. Students will understand how giving is vital to their financial and spiritual well-being.

6th Graders Moving Up!!!

SUMMER REACH
(Formerly called SUMMER RAGE)
Wednesday, August 3rd- Wednesday, August 31st
We have changed the name of our youth summer program from Summer RAGE to Summer REACH. The goal is to change our focus from inward to outward. We felt a call to REACH out to our community by taking 4 of our Wednesday night services and going out in the city of St. Clair Shores. Each of our "Starting Point" groups will be facilitating one of the nights and leading the rest of our group out to make a difference in our neighborhood. Each student will need 1 permission slip for the month to participate.

Church Baptism and Picnic
Sunday, August 21st @ 9am
Please join us for our annual Baptism and Picnic at Stoney Creek. Any student interested in being baptized, please sign up at the welcome center. We will be having a mandatory Baptism Class the Sunday before (August 14th) at 9am in the Legacy Backroom taught by Pastor Lori. Well, CFL was again a success thanks to the Lord and His handiwork!
THE CREW both weeks did a phenomenal job and I am still getting emails and calls from adults blown away by the students heart of servanthood and their ability to minister to the kids at camp. Thanks to everyone who participated!!!

GENERATION CHANGE Series by Dave Ramsey
Here is an email I sent out last week, but wanted to include in case some of you missed it. We do need to get a count as soon as possible and unfortunately we don't have the starting date solidified yet. It will definitely be after CFL camp, but are unsure quite when we will get it off the ground.

I have been in communication with Phil Semlow about an opportunity to offer "GENERATION CHANGE" Bible Study by Dave Ramsey to our Junior High and High School students. We would like to get an idea of how many students would be interested in taking this study before we pursue purchasing the materials needed. It will either be a 4-week or 8-week course, depending on when we run the study and how much time we have at each session (Right now we are looking at running it Sunday mornings from 9am-9:45am before Sunday morning service.) Please review the material, watch the info video and discuss it as a family to see if this is something you would be interested in. The study does require a student journal kit, which are $19.99 per student. We will get a discount with our Leader order and would probably be able to offer the kits at much less (I am hoping to get it down to $10 per student). Please reply to this email with your interest or sign our sign-up sheet located at the Welcome Center.*

I am very excited at the possibility of offering this to our students. Most JH and HS students have very little concept of money and their responsibility to God to handle it appropriately. What a great opportunity to have this information under their belt at a very young age!

MANDATORY FOR ALL CREW MEMBERS
Just a reminder of our 2 training meetings for all new and returning Crew members for CFL 2011. These meetings are mandatory and you must attend if you are planning on being a part of The Crew this year. The times for the meeting on Sunday, June 26th are slightly earlier and later than the rest of the CFL attendees because we will be going over details specific to The Crew. Please join us Wednesday, June 22nd as we honor our High School Graduates of 2011. Dessert will be provided.

CONNECT: SCS Fireworks
Friday, June 24th
Immediately following the prayer meeting at 8pm
Please join us for our all-church CONNECT event to the Saint Clair Shores Fireworks at Memorial Park the last Friday of this month. We will leave immediately after the prayer meeting at 8pm and will meet at Kennedy Middle School down the 1st base line of the baseball field. Bring snacks, blankets, chairs and BUG SPRAY! The firework display will begin at dusk (usually around 9:30 or 10pm)
*If you are planning on going into Memorial Park for the music and play area, there is a $2 admission fee this year and a $5 fee if you want to park there


St. Gabriel's Community Dinner Outreach
Wednesday, June 29th
Meet at church at 5:30pm and return at 8:15pm
Please join us in serving our community along with St. Gabriel's Church. All JH and HS students are welcome. This will be in place of our Wednesday night service, so if you are unable to attend, please join the adults in the sanctuary. All students will need a permission slip. (Available next Wednesday in front of Pastor Lori's office)

Prayer Requests for June:

• Summer vacation for all of our students: for opportunities to share the love of Christ, for favor in job-hunting, college planning and summer school, and good memories and fun times with family.
• Some of the students from Legacy attending IHope's Teen Intensive: that God would move in their lives and give them vision for the future.
• God's favor with students that are looking for jobs this summer.

Tonight was the EACH Youth Rally... and it was amazing!

I think this was one of the best youth rallies I have ever been to...
and I have been to A LOT of youth rallies.

 One of the neat parts of the night was hearing from UofM Defensive End, Craig Roh and Michigan State's starting Quarterback, Kirk Cousins. They are both very outspoken followers of Christ and had some great encouragement for all of us.
