FEBRUARY Update

Hi Legacy Students, Parents and Leaders...
I can't go into the month of February without constantly talking about Tent of Meeting. It's mostly what I think about, it's constantly what I am working on, and it's right around the corner! For those of you who are registered to attend, please don't forget to prepare your heart for what God wants to do while you are there. Don't wait until the service Friday night to open your heart and allow God to begin His work... start right now! Go grab your Bible and start meditating on some of the things God wants to do in your life and allow them to seep into your spirit. Here are a couple to get you started:
  • Psalm 2:8, 85:6, 145:4-6, 145:11-13
  • Matthew 7:7,8
  • 2 Chronicles 7:14,15
  • Isaiah 64:1-3
  • Habakkuk 3:2-6
{Pastor Lori}

E.A.C.H. Training
(Everyone A Chance to Hear)

Wednesday, February 9th- Wednesday, March 23rd
E.A.C.H. is an initiative for everyone a chance to hear the Gospel in South East Michigan. We are very excited to join the rest of the church in training ourselves for E.A.C.H. If you are unfamiliar with E.A.C.H, please watch the promo video here. Here is a synopsis of their ministry from their website:
We will attempt to give everyone in our region (over 3.5 million people)  a chance to hear the message of Christ and to take the ‘next step’ in their spiritual journey.
Mission Statement:
Working together as a body of believers, we will give everyone in the Metropolitan Detroit area a chance to take the next step in their journey toward Jesus. Lord willing, this will be the widest and most effective evangelistic campaign in the history of Michigan.  The goal is not simply to give every person multiple chances to connect with the message of Christ; but also . . .

  • To see tens of thousands come to faith in Christ . . .

  • To see churches and church leaders working together as one body . . .

  • To see substantial growth in our existing churches . . .

  • To see momentum in the planting of many new churches in our region . . .

  • To permanently alter the spiritual landscape of Southeastern Michigan . . .

  • To make a statement to a watching world: Detroit IS rebuilding, and JESUS is the foundation of our comeback!

  • From the recent 2010 Time Magazine Annual Edition: Opening sentence: “Detroit has become an icon of the failed American city.” Closing sentence: “The world is now watching Detroit with interest – and waiting to see if it finds a way to rise from the ashes.” The time is now to show a watching world that Metro-Detroit has found a way to rise from the ashes . . . and that ‘way’ is more than inner-city green spaces and smarter cars.  That ‘way’ has something to do with the Lordship of Jesus in this region. And the only way the Lordship of Jesus is going to be felt in our region is if the church rises up to its mandate to boldly tell the world its message and give everyone a chance to hear it and respond to it.

    Re-Cap of January:
    New Life Fast
I am so proud of all the students that joined us for the January fast. I have had numerous teens come and share with me things the Lord has spoken to them during this month. The one thing I can say after hearing all of it is: God is on the move! Let's not stop seeking him because our church fast has ended. This is only the beginning of what God wants to do in us, so be open to share the things He continues to show you!

    Parting Thoughts:
Some more resources to check out....

Book:  Radical: Taking Back Your Faith From the American Dream by David Platt
This book has completely changed my way of thinking. Here is a quote from the book that I haven't been able to stop thinking about: "We were settling for a Christianity that revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually about abandoning ourselves." It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... BUT WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO LIVES LIKE THAT? DO YOU?
